Today, we have the winners of the season long competitions in Digital, Prints, and Slides. It takes quite a commitment to come up with images worthy of being entered in competition month in and month out so, when you run into one of these members, please congratulate them on a job well done.

Tomorrow: Images of the Year
In case you hadn’t noticed, results for the April 2010 competition have been posted to the COPS forums.
The Spring competition, hosted by the Stony Brook Camera Club, was held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Wrentham Senior Center, Wrentham, MA. The competition was directed by Dan Charbonnet, FPSA, MNEC (chairman and projector operator) with assistance by Shiv Verma, MNEC (scoring computer operator). Thirty-six clubs participated in the Pictorial section (14 from Class A and 22 from Class B) and thirty-two clubs participated in the Nature section (12 from Class A and 20 from Class B).
Charter Oak finished 6th overall in Pictorial and 5th overall in Nature for the Spring competition. For the year, Charter Oak finished 4th overall in Pictorial and 5th overall in Nature.
Individual awards from the Spring competition went to Cindy Gosselin – Blue ribbon for her image Predator and Prey and to Bob Cameron – HM for his image Potter’s Hands. Congratulations to Cindy and Bob!
Initial results from the Glennie Interclub competition were received and Charter Oak tied for 23rd place. We are to congratulate ourselves on this impressive accomplishment, given that 106 clubs from as far away as Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom participated. Out of the nine clubs from Connecticut that entered, only one placed higher than Charter Oak (New Haven Camera Club tied for 6th place).
C. Gosselin received a Merit Award in the Mammals – Carnivores & Omnivores category with the image “Predator and Prey.” The image scored 26 points. Winning images should be posted soon onto the Glennie site. Look at results and check for uploaded images at:

The results from the March 2010 competition, held Monday night, have been posted on the COPS Forum.
Charter Oak finished 4th overall in Class A in the Pictorial section of the Winter NECCC competition and 3rd overall in the Nature section. Individual honors went to Ed Rosenthal who tied for 2nd place in Pictorial with 24 points for his image Owl Eyes, Audrey Weigold who received an HM in Nature with 24 points for her image Female Tree Swallow Feeding Her Young, and Laura Bryg who received an HM with 24 points for her image Great Egret Chicks Fighting for Lunch.
Congratulations to Ed, Audrey, and Laura for the great results!
Charter Oak finished first in black and white and second in color in the NECCC Winter print competition. Norma Zackor took first place in black and white with 22 points for “Cowboys in the Dust” and John Murphy received an honorable mention with 19 points for ”Glen Canyon #2.” As our results reflect, the individual scores were remarkably low, with 22 being the highest score given in any category.
Beginning this month, the monthly competition results will now be published on the Charter Oak forum in the Competition Results forum under COPS Community.
